Ozark, MO, January 15, 2020:  The Christian County Commission is pleased to announce the acquisition of a 39-acre tract of land near 25th Street and MO Hwy 14 in Ozark.  This $1,750,000 land purchase represents an investment of reserve funds in an asset which will likely appreciate in value at a greater rate than if the funds were gaining interest at a nominal savings rate. Christian County’s population continues to grow, which translates to ever growing demands on county services and facilities. The Commissioners believe it is inevitable that in 20 years or less, the current jail location will no longer be adequate.  This investment creates options to help the County better deal with that eventuality. The size and location of this tract is an important step toward preparing to provide for the future needs of the County’s citizens.

Christian County has been and is projected to remain as one of the fastest growing counties in Missouri. In making this purchase, the Commission agreed that locating a sizable parcel of land which has access to roads and utilities will only become more difficult and costly as our area continues to develop and grow.
